Sketch Comedy in Philadelphia – January 4th through January 10th

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016! Yes, we are still celebrating because there is so much to be happy about. On New Year’s Day we opened up submissions and announced the dates of our upcoming 2016 Philly Sketchfest taking place from March 31st through April 3rd. You can submit here until we close out the submission process on January 31st. We’re also thankful to everyone who came out and enjoyed our January showcase featuring the American Breakfast Reunion Show with Your Mom and our 17 group sketch event, Sketch Hangover – The First Sketches of 2016. Our never-ending thanks to the performers who spent their New Year’s Day with us including, American Breakfast, Your Mom, Adventure Friends, Barbara Bush, Dog Mountain, High Dramma, HoagieFist, House of Solitude, ManiPedi, Mean Wendy Band, Patric Writes Sketches, The Burgundy Boys, The Flannel Chucks, The Flat Earth, The Incredible Shrinking Matt & Jacquie, The Prince, Until Pluto, and WGRA Radio Theatre. Let’s do it again next year! If you missed your first opportunity to see sketch comedy in 2016, you are in luck. There are no less than six sketch comedy shows occurring this week and we can’t wait to tell you about them…

Sketch Comedy in Philadelphia – December 21st through December 27th

Before we start, we wanted to thank Jake Mattera, Alex Pearlman, The Wire Mothers, Cynthia Marie, Until Pluto and House of Solitude for an awesome and entertaining night of sketch as part of our Philly Sketchfest Presents December showcase last Friday. Please make sure to check out all these wonderful groups on social media to be updated on all their upcoming shows and video releases. In fact, our friends in House of Solitude are performing a set of sketch as part of this week’s only sketch show on December 23rd – Secret Pants’ 6th Annual Holiday Variety Show Spectacular at Johnny Brenda’s entitled, ‘Should I Sleigh Or Should I Go’ – and next week as part of Philly Sketchfest Presents, ‘Sketch Hangover’, a sketch comedy revue featuring 17 sketch groups performing their first sketches of the New Year 2016 on January 1st. But this week, it’s all about Secret Pants and their annual holiday variety show…

Hey, We’re Cool, has long staked their reputation on being the sexiest comedy variety show in Philadelphia that takes place at a crêperie on the first Thursday of every month. This month, hosts Matt Aukamp & Pat Reber share that incredible sex appeal and invite you to learn everything you’ve ever wanted to know about sex with the Hey, We’re Cool gang!

Come for a night of sexy fun, sexy games, and sexy education! And if you are a person that does not like sex, you can still join them and see sketch comedy from Dog Mountain and Charlie Shulman. Also performing, comedian Robert Ecks, musician Riley O’Riley and a special appearance from Dr. Timaree Leigh, a licensed & certified sexologist.

Iron Sketch – Battle Wheel

Iron Sketch is a monthly sketch comedy show designed to provide aspiring comedic writers & performers opportunities to write & perform sketch comedy with the assistance of a dedicated mentor/director. Participants sign up in advance at [email protected] and each month, eight are chosen and randomly paired into two groups and given 30 days to write & perform 15 minutes of comedy for the pleasure of The Chairman and his audience. The catch? They have to incorporate The Chairman’s ‘Battle Prop’ of the month into their sketches.

This month, Battle Wheel as two new sketch teams, mentored by Brian Kelly of Secret Pants, take the stage. Featuring ‘Cheese Wheel’ (Kate Boylan, Andrew Coppola, Emily Currier, Jesse Mumma) and “Good Wheel Hunting” (Matt Bethune, Kristopher Hodge, Teresa Nutter, Joseph Tuzzi). Special guest, Nicole Yates will also perform stand-up.
