House of Solitude is the sketch comedy duo of Daniel Corkery & Caitlin Weigel. Some might ask, where do they both find the time though? Dan writes and performs on PHIT Sketch House Team, Goat Rodeo as well as improvising with Triple Double. Caitlin improvises with two acclaimed groups, The Future and the aforementioned Triple Double, directs the PHIT Improv House Team, Outside Voices, teaches improv at PHIT and writes & performs with sketch groups, ManiPedi and Sketchier. Oh, and they have day jobs and a show this Friday night at 8:30pm with The Wire Mothers (NYC) and stand-up comedian, Jake Mattera as part of Philly Sketchfest Presents December showcase. We found a little room in their schedule this week to sit down with us to talk about their origins, if improv informs their sketch writing and some details on their upcoming show, ‘Home for the Holidays’….

After appearing on The Special Without Brett Davis and performing to a sold out crowd at The Montreal Sketch Festival, New York City sketch comedy duo, The Wire Mothers are bringing their hit show, ‘Mel Buttermench: A Memorial Concert’ back to Philadelphia this Friday night at 8:30pm as part of Philly Sketchfest Presents December showcase. They’ll be joined by Philadelphia’s, House of Solitude and stand-up comedian, Jake Mattera. Sketch Comedy in Philadelphia – December 14th through December 20th

This week is so full of sketch comedy shows in Philadelphia that it’s almost as if – Christmas came early/Hanukkah was extended/the Krampus didn’t bite off the appendages of your misbehaving child – this year. But before you get upset that I only noted the Christian, Jewish and Pagen gift giving holidays as metaphors… What’s that? It’s too late and you’re already upset? Okay, then we’ll just get to this week’s listings of sketch comedy in Philadelphia which features our own monthly Philly Sketchfest Presents showcases at The Adrienne Theater Playground including House of Solitude’s ‘Home for the Holidays’ featuring The Wire Mothers and host Jake Mattera at 8:30pm as well as Until Pluto’s “…Still Not A Better World” featuring Cynthia Marie’s Farewell Show and host Alex Pearlman at 10:00pm.
