We are so excited to announce that we’ve partnered with Sawubona Creativity Project to offer sketch comedy classes beginning with Sketch Comedy 101, taught by Curt Riedy, one of the Philly Sketchfest producers!

Got ideas you think are funny but don’t know how to turn them into sketches that work? This class breaks down the craft of sketch comedy, from raw ideas to polished scenes.

In this class, students will develop original sketches for stage and/or screen while learning the core frameworks that make sketches clear, playable and hilarious. We’ll explore how to shape topics into strong comedic premises, build engaging scenes and dialogue and sharpen jokes through structure, editing and revision.

Whether you’re brand new to sketch or looking to level up your writing, this class will help you write smarter and more confidently. Come ready to write, laugh and get your ideas out of your head and onto the page.

Classes begin Tuesday, March 10, and continue through to a Showcase on Friday, May 8.
